Underwriter

Bloombar Capital, a London-based specialist lender focused on secure, flexible, asset-backed financial solutions, is seeking an Underwriter to assess and structure lending opportunities, evaluate borrower risk, and help shape sound, well-collateralised credit decisions across our growing client portfolio.
Responsibilities:
  • Review and assess applications for asset-backed lending and structured finance facilities, ensuring each opportunity is appropriately collateralised and aligned with the firm’s risk appetite.
  • Perform detailed credit, financial and security analysis on prospective borrowers, including review of financial statements, cash flow forecasts, valuations and supporting documentation.
  • Identify, quantify and document key risks — credit, market, operational, regulatory and asset-specific — and recommend mitigants, covenants and structural protections.
  • Prepare clear, well-reasoned credit papers and present recommendations to the Credit Committee, including pricing, terms, security structure and conditions precedent.
  • Work closely with relationship managers, legal counsel, valuers and external advisers to ensure transactions are accurately structured, documented and executed.
  • Monitor live exposures, conduct periodic reviews and flag early warning signs on existing facilities to support proactive portfolio management.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of underwriting policies, scoring frameworks and internal controls in line with regulatory expectations and best practice.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of underwriting, credit analysis or risk experience, ideally within asset-backed lending, specialty finance, private credit or commercial banking.
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial information and reach well-supported conclusions.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent) are preferred but not essential; candidates working towards a qualification are welcome to apply.
  • A degree from an accredited university, typically in finance, economics, accounting or a related discipline.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organised, and able to manage multiple transactions to deadline.
  • Sound commercial judgement, intellectual honesty and the highest standards of integrity.
  • Maintains a “client-first” mentality balanced with disciplined risk awareness.
Compensation & Benefits:

Competitive base salary £50,000 – £65,000 depending on experience, plus discretionary performance-related bonus. This is the salary range the Company expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this range at any time.
